Mount Hope Park
Two events for Mount Hope Park are planned in May, 2017 – we hope you can join us!
On Saturday, May 6, Mount Hope Park will be open to the public so that residents can gain a better understanding of existing conditions and potential concepts for future programming. The park will be open between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm. The park is located on Bristol Ferry Road, adjacent to Town Common.
On Thursday, May 11, there will be a public workshop from 7:00 – 9:00 pm in the Town Council Chambers, 2200 East Main Road, Portsmouth.
In January 2015, the Aquidneck Land Trust (ALT) and the Town of Portsmouth partnered to purchase a unique waterfront property in Portsmouth, RI for the development of Mt. Hope Park, a new permanently conserved park land. Under the arrangement, the Town of Portsmouth holds ownership and ALT holds the conservation easement, which permanently protects the property as open space and parklands. The parcel is located at the intersection of Bayview Avenue and Bristol Ferry Road, and juts out into Mount Hope Bay with scenic views of the bridge and surrounding water.
