The Aquidneck Island Land Trust protects lands that are vital for clean drinking water, wildlife habitat, local agriculture, recreation, and the Island’s historic and scenic character. We acquire land and conservation easements, build trails, provide public education and are the hub for action to protect Aquidneck Island’s natural environment for future generations.

OUR STORY

Local Trailblazers
in Protection
and Restoration

The Aquidneck Island Land Trust was founded in 1990 by local residents to protect open space like farmland, forests, and parks facing increasing development pressure. The Land Trust has worked closely with landowners, municipalities, and partners to protect 2,855 acres of land and open 14 miles of trails for public enjoyment.

OUR WORK

Aquidneck Island’s Action Centers Around Land and Water

The Aquidneck Island Land Trust is the local hub for land and water protection, restoration, and climate change adaptation. We raise funds and collaborate with landowners, municipalities, partners, and community members. We work to preserve open space and farmland, protect wetlands and drinking water, create trails, and mitigate climate change impacts.
