The Land Trust works with landowners and partners to conserve open space through conservation easements and fee simple land acquisition. Conservation easements are voluntary legal agreements between a landowner and a land trust or government agency that permanently restrict development, or certain land uses to protect the land’s conservation values. Donation of conservation easements and land may have significant tax benefits through the Conservation Tax Incentive program. The Land Trust will also pay up to appraised value for certain properties of high conservation value.
