AQUIDNECK LAND TRUST ANNOUNCES LILLY DICK AS NEW BOARD MEMBER

Middletown, RI – April 15, 2024 – Aquidneck Land Trust is pleased to welcome longtime Newport resident and civic leader Lilly Dick as a new member of its Board of Trustees. Arriving in Newport in 1967 with her husband during his time in the Navy, they decided to make it a home for their young family. Finishing her BA at Salve University in French and Education, Ms. Dick began teaching at Rogers High School.

Ms. Dick’s civic work began with the Newport Gas Light Project, highlighting the beauty of the City’s colonial structures. She served as a Newport City Councilor, was a founding member of the Newport Hill Association, and with her late husband, Ronald Dick, cofounded Belgravia Imports.

Ms. Dick is the Founder and Chair of the Newport Tree Conservancy. She also founded and Chaired the Newport Transportation Planning Committee, and the Newport Spring Leadership Committee. Once complete, Spring Park will be under a conservation easement with Aquidneck Land Trust.

“It would be hard to find another person who has made such a positive difference in The City of Newport,” said Terry Sullivan, Executive Director. “Lilly is dedicated to conserving our parks and open spaces, to restoring our watersheds and protecting our drinking water supplies, and to ensuring that our Island can be resilient in the face of climate change impacts, including increasingly damaging storms and sea level rise. We are so fortunate to have her joining our Board of Trustees.”
