Applications to the 2024 Merritt Neighborhood Fund are now being accepted! The application deadline is Monday, April 1, 2024. Grants are generally awarded in the amount of $500-$2,500. The purpose of the Fund is to provide modest grants to strengthen the community’s identity and character and to model the ethic of land conservation and stewardship through community volunteerism.
Aquidneck Land Trust established The Merritt Neighborhood Fund in 1999 to honor the late Peter M. Merritt, the organization’s visionary president emeritus. Peter had a vision to execute the Land Trust’s mission on a smaller scale to benefit individual neighborhoods across Aquidneck Island. The Fund works to realize this goal, which recognizes the importance of small open spaces on Aquidneck Island.
The Land Trust will announce the recipients of this year’s award cycle by the end of April. Previous recipients must file a report before applying for a new grant.
