ALT Art & Writing Contest
The 2020 ALT Art & Writing Contest is now underway. The prompt for either art or written entries is the same: “What is your favorite Aquidneck Island vista? Show it as an artwork on paper or describe it in an essay or poem.”
An online submission link is new this year. No more than one submission in each category (art/writing) is allowed per student. Homeschooled students are welcome to enter, using a parent’s name instead of a teacher’s, if applicable.
Submissions will be accepted until noon on Thursday, December 17, 2020. (Please note this is an extended deadline from the one originally announced). There are first-, second-, and third-prize awards for each of the three age categories: kindergarten – grade 4, grades 5-8, and grades 9-12. The first-place prizes are $250, the second-place prizes are $100, and the third-place prizes are $50. The school of each first-place winner will also receive a $500 grant to support its environmental science curriculum.
Two panels of judges will determine the winners, who will be announced in late January and recognized at ALT’s (virtual) annual meeting on February 4, 2021. Questions? Call us at 401-849-2799, ext. 13. Information on the 2019 Art & Writing Contest winners may be seen here.
We thank our sponsor, Sixteen on Center, for their generosity and commitment to environmental education.
