The 2022 ALT Art & Writing Contest is now underway! The prompt for both art or written entries is the same: “What is your favorite Aquidneck Island vista? Show it as an artwork on paper or describe it in an essay or poem.” Students must live on Aquidneck Island and/or attend school on Aquidneck Island to be eligible to enter.
Entries must be made through the online submission form. A maximum of one submission is allowed per category, per student. Homeschooled students are welcome to enter. Students in grades 9-12 are allowed to enter a photograph for their art entry.
The entry deadline is Friday, November 18, 2022. Awards will be given for the first-, second-, and third-prize winners for each age category: grades K-4, grades 5-8, and grades 9-12. The first-place prizes are $250, the second-place prizes are $100, and the third-place prizes are $50. The school of each first-place winner will also receive a $500 grant to support its environmental science curriculum.
PLEASE DO NOT SHOW THE STUDENT’S NAME ON THE ARTWORK OR WRITTEN WORK. (Their names will be entered in the submission process but judges must view the entries without an identifying information other than a title, if applicable).
Two panels of judges will determine the winners, who will be announced in January and recognized at ALT’s annual meeting on February 2, 2023. Questions? Call us at 401-849-2799, ext. 113. Information on the 2021 Art & Writing Contest winners may be seen here.
