Sixteen on Center Art & Writing Contest
The Sixteen on Center Art & Writing Contest is held annually to promote the importance and value of a healthy environment to the youth of Aquidneck Island. The contest is open to all local students, from kindergarten through 12th grade. Island schools submit artistic or written representations of their students’ favorite island vistas. Art entries are posted on the ALT Facebook page, where the public is invited to vote on them between November 19 and December 6 (noon). The written entries are judged by a panel of ALT judges. There are first, second, and third-place prizes for each age group (K-4, 5-8, 9-12) and for both categories (art and writing). Awards are presented at the ALT Annual Meeting on February 7, 2019. In addition, the school of each first-place winner receives a check to support its own environmental education curriculum. We thank our sponsor, Sixteen on Center, for their generosity and commitment to environmental education.
Local schools received letters in August 2018 with entry details. Schools must submit their entries by noon on Thursday, November 15, 2018. Winners will be announced at the end of December.
