The 2021 ALT Art & Writing Contest is now underway! The prompt for both art or written entries is the same: “What is your favorite Aquidneck Island vista? Show it as an artwork on paper or describe it in an essay or poem.”
Entries must be made through the online submission form. No more than one submission in each category (art/writing) is allowed per student. Homeschooled students are welcome to enter, using a parent’s name instead of a teacher’s, if applicable.
Submissions will be accepted until noon on Friday, November 19, 2021. There are first-, second-, and third-prize awards for each of the three age categories: kindergarten–grade 4, grades 5-8, and grades 9-12. The first-place prizes are $250, the second-place prizes are $100, and the third-place prizes are $50. The school of each first-place winner will also receive a $500 grant to support its environmental science curriculum.
PLEASE DO NOT SHOW THE STUDENT’S NAME ON THE ARTWORK OR WRITTEN WORK. (Their names will be entered in the submission process but judges must view the entries without an identifying information other than a title, if applicable.)
Two panels of judges will determine the winners, who will be announced in late January and recognized at ALT’s (virtual) annual meeting on February 3, 2022. Questions? Call us at 401-849-2799, ext. 13. Information on the 2020 Art & Writing Contest winners may be seen here.
We thank our sponsor, Sixteen on Center, for their generosity and commitment to environmental education.
