Aquidneck Land Trust on Social Media!

Please join us in welcoming our Development Intern, Kendal McCloskey! She's a senior at the University of Rhode Island, majoring in Political Science and History.

"I'm excited to be joining the Aquidneck Land Trust team, and am eager to contribute to the mission of preserving Aquidneck Island! I firmly believe in the saying, "There is no Planet B." This belief fuels my admiration for the dedication and hard work that the Land Trust puts into environmental conservation. Preserving land and giving a voice to the environment are matters close to my heart and I'm excited to channel this passion into my work!"

Aquidneck Land Trust is pleased to host a free, open-to-the-public talk with Dr. Soni Pradhanang on May 22 at 6 p.m. at the DiStefano Lecture Hall at Salve Regina University, 56 Lawrence Avenue, Newport, RI 02840. Register at the link in our bio!

Climate change can have far-reaching impacts on freshwater systems, affecting water quantity, quality, and ecosystem health. From unpredictable precipitation to melting ice, rising sea levels, droughts, and floods, most of the climate change impacts come down to water. Adapting to these changes and implementing sustainable water management practices are essential for protecting freshwater resources in the face of a changing climate.

Dr. Pradhanang is a Professor of Water Resources and Water Quality at the University of Rhode Island Department of Geosciences. She strongly believes in interdisciplinary approaches, and her research ambitiously spans the development of decision support systems for water resource management, from local field scales to broader watershed and regional scales.

Aquidneck Land Trust thanks the William H. Donner Foundation for sponsoring this public lecture.
